OPI James Bond Collection

While in China I went to a lot of markets and there were numerous stalls selling what they claimed were authentic OPI polishes but it didn’t take much investigation to figure out they weren’t real. They only had a few different labels and most of the fakes were labelled OPI Top Coat but were in a variety of colours including some crazy neons. If you look carefully though you can find the real stuff 🙂  So I picked up 3 polishes from the James Bond collection that came out for holiday 2012. The three I got were Live and Let Die, Tomorrow Never Dies and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Live and Let Die is a gorgeous dark green with a bit of golden sparkle.

Tomorrow Never Dies is a violet blue that is just so vivid and metallic.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is a sparkly steel blue with a gold and violet sparkle.

I have wanted these for so long and so glad I finally have them.  Both On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Tomorrow Never Dies are very sheer on the first coat and while Live and Let Die is more opaque but still needs at least 2 coats while the other two could use a minimum of 3 coats. Sorry if these photos are bad, I don’t have a lighting set-up and so it has taken me too long to take these shots.

Chinese Nail Polishes

I found these cool polishes at Lottemart which is kinda like Walmart but the street level floor is separate little shops and one was Lenle. Lenle is a lot like Claire’s with hair accessories, jewellery, nail polish and other beauty items including face masks. I got some great colours to round out my collection.

I got a neon orange which is brighter then anything else in my collection. The pink that I got was a muted purple pink. I  also got a light teal cream with no hint of shimmer or sparkle but it will be a gorgeous base colour for a number of manicures.

The burgundy is pretty with a gold sparkle.

While shopping with a friend we both got a sparkle polish, mine has blue, red and silver hexagonal big glitter with silver micro glitter.

I’M BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Temple of Heaven

I’m back from China and boy the jet lag is a pain in the butt. It’s like the world has been turned upside down thus why this is being posted in the middle of the night. So happy to be back to reliable internet. I brought back goodies and they will be up soon. I got a few of the OPI James Bond Collection and some Chinese brand polishes  (photos soon)

Chinese New Year

As you read this I am on a plane to China to visit my parents for Chinese New Year. To celebrate I did some red and gold nails. This is the year of the Snake so I did a tiny snake on my thumb. My nail art skills aren’t that great yet as I am just starting so the snake looks a little funny but the more you try the more you get better.

DSC_0003

So I started with 1 coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy as my base coat. For the Gold Nails, I used 1 coat of China Glaze Magnetix in Gold Fusion, I know it is a magnetic polish but it was just the right colour for what I wanted. On top of that I used a thick coat of Wet n Wild in Gold and the Beautiful. The Red nails I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen XtremeWear in Red Carpet, it is also the best Christmas red I have ever found. The badly executed snake on my thumb was done using the China Glaze Magnetix in Gold Fusion. The top coat I used was Revlon Extra Life No Chip Top Coat.

As I am going to China and will be unable to reach WordPress from there unfortunately I will have no posts because I have been so crazy preparing for the trip that it took me 3 days just to take a picture of these nails and had to redo some of them because they had chipped already, not a really good sign for a No Chip top coat. Now off to practice drawing snakes, wish me luck!!

Thanks for Reading 🙂 🙂

Sally Beauty Haul – featuring Orly

Sally Beauty was having (and may still be having) a 2 for 1 sale on Orly polishes, so of course I took advantage of it. I got four polishes all together; 2 one day and I went back a couple days later and got 2 more.

The first two I got were Fantasea and Royal Velvet. Fantasea is a pink purple with a hint of gold, it is an odd colour to describe but in person, I can’t stop looking at it. Royal Velvet is a match to one Orly put out in their Dark Shadows Collection in 2012 called Mysterious Curse. It is a purple with a blue shimmer but very dark so if you don’t like dark colours steer clear. I like it. 🙂 Both of these polishes have been on my wish list for a while.

Mysterious Curse + Fantasea

The last two I got are complete opposites. The colours are Goth and Oh Cabana Boy. Oh Cabana Boy is a neon pink shimmer. My bottle of Oh Cabana Boy was mislabelled as La Vida Loca. La Vida Loca is more of a purple pink though not a hot pink like this. While hot pink is usually not my thing, I love it. I think it is because it is neon. Goth is a black with silver sparkles (pretty self explanatory) and I don’t have any black in my collection with the exception of my nail art black so I thought this would be a nice addition because it isn’t just a flat black. I looked at the colour Liquid Vinyl but decided the one with a little depth because of the sparkles was a better choice. The black I really want is Scorn by Illamasqua but I can’t justify the cost at £13.50 even though it is on sale now for £5.00 the shipping charges are outrageous.

A Belated What I Got for Christmas Haul

Sorry this took so long to post, I have been very busy lately.

While shopping for Christmas presents I found this gem for a great price at Winners. It is a set of mini metallic shimmer polishes from Kleancolor. This set included pink, yellow, purple  navy, brown and one called jungle which is teal colour.

Techno High Kleancolor

I got some fabulous surprises for Christmas and had a wonderful time with my family before my Mom had to return to work in Beijing. In my stocking I got Orly Flare, a gorgeous gold metallic shimmer; clearly I have a fixation when it comes to shimmer polishes. :S

Orly Flare

“Santa” also brought me another Kleancolor set but this one was a mini treatment set which included a calcium nail strengthener, base coat, High shine Top Coat, a garlic nail growth , a nail hardener and finally cuticle oil.

Kleancolor Treatments

I got a perfume that I have been dreaming about for a while, it is “G by Harajuku Lovers”  Harajuku Lovers is a brand started by Gwen Stefani and this perfume “G” is supposedly based on Gwen Stefani’s personality. Gorgeous bottle 🙂

G by Harajuku Lovers

My boyfriend kept teasing me before Christmas about what he was getting me and I admit I was getting a little nervous but he ended up getting me some fabulous presents. First was a nail stamping kit that I have wanted for a long time. It included 5 nail plates, a double sided stamper, scraper and a piece of silicone that is supposed to help hold the plates but just ends up being a little silly.

Stamping Kit

He also got me 3 polishes. They were Essie polishes, a teal called Trophy Wife and a purple called Sexy Divide. Both are gorgeous colours, I used the purple in my Royal Sparkle nail look as the base colour.

Essie Trophy and Sexy Divide

Last but not least is a dazzling purple and blue micro glitter in a clear base from Nicole by OPI called Gone Wishin’. This was also used in the Royal Sparkle look.

So all in all, I had a great Christmas because I got to spend it with my family who I hadn’t seen in months because they now live in Beijing. I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday season and spend it with your loved ones.

Royal Sparkle

In honour of the Official portrait of Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge being revealed, I have some royal purple nails for you. I used 3 coats of Essie Sexy Divide because when I did one coat and it didn’t cover very well at all. 2 coats still looked a little thin so 3 coats it is. For the sparkle I added Nicole by OPI Gone Wishin’, which has purple and blue micro glitter in a clear base.

Royal Sparkle

I wish the picture showed the sparkle better cause I feel like I should be going clubbing or something with these nails.
